Golden Apple Reading Program
What is it?
Golden Apple is a fun, school-wide reading incentive program that takes place every year at Chatham Park. All students in grades K-5 are invited to join (the program is optional), and the program lasts approximately 6 months.
How does it work?
At the beginning of the program, each student will receive a packet of Golden Apple materials with instructions for how to participate, along with forms to track their reading. There are 5 levels to complete – Pink Blossom, Green Apple, Yellow Apple, Red Apple, and Golden Apple.
Students should return forms (signed by a parent/guardian) to school as they complete each level. Corresponding colored apples with the student’s names will be hung on the Golden Apple tree in the hallway outside the library as they complete each level. Kids love seeing their names on the tree!
At the end of the program, each student who completes the Golden Apple level will be recognized with a reward and have a book plate with their name placed into a library book of their choice!
How do we get involved?
When the program kicks off each fall, students will come home with the Golden Apple materials and forms needed to get started. There is no need to officially sign up – just start reading and track progress on the forms provided!
The Golden Apple program relies on parent/guardian volunteers to help make the program successful. To get involved, please visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0E49A5AC2FA3FE3-45065095-golden
