We are excited to announce that the 22th Annual CPE Science Fair will take place on March 20th from 6:30–8:30PM at Chatham Park Elementary. All 4th and 5th graders are invited and encouraged to take part in this wonderful tradition which is a great way to explore science in a fun and supportive forum and learn how to think like a scientist!
Proposal Forms to come out soon!
Read more about the Science Fair and get ideas here.
Please remind your students that there are two judged classes for each grade: experiments and reports. Experiments are based on students collecting new data themselves to answer a research questions (e.g., which food type gets moldy the fastest). Reports are based on gathering information and data already available and are aimed at explaining in words, or models, or images, some scientific concept or question (e.g., How do salmon return to the stream of their birth, how does the sun produce light, or how does a USB drive work).
Participation is completely voluntary. Your project can be about ANY kind of science that interests you. It can be in the form of an experiment or a report (each type will have its own awards in each grade). HASA will provide free display boards for all participants and most projects can be completed with materials found around the home. You may choose to do aproject by yourself or with friends from the same grade. This is not binding, but will help us communicate important information to you and would be greatly appreciated.
Volunteers Needed!
If you would like to help on the day of the Fair, either as a judge, during setup in the morning or breakdown in the evening, or during the Fair itself (snack table).
